Mouse panel and radar

Choose Mouse from Home, or give a switch the Open mouse action. A panel of scanning buttons appears around a ring that marks the pointer.

  • Move in eight directions.
  • Left click, Right click, Double click.
  • Start drag and End drag.
  • Scroll up and Scroll down.
  • Slower and Faster pointer speed.
  • Monitor left, right, up, down to jump the pointer to another display.
  • Actions for the same editing, window, browser and media items as Home.
  • Keyboard to open the scanning keyboard.
  • Switch to Point to change to point scanning.

Pointer speed has ten levels plus fine tuning. Hold a switch on a movement or scroll button and it repeats, with a repeat interval and gradual acceleration you can set. Repeat stops when you release the switch, or on the next press, whichever you choose in Settings.

The panel can move itself out of the way when the pointer approaches it.

Radar sits in the middle of the panel’s arrows and reaches any point in three presses:

  1. The display is divided into quarters. They highlight in turn, then the whole display. Press Select to choose one; the pointer moves to its centre.
  2. A dotted beam sweeps clockwise round that centre. Press Select to fix the direction.
  3. The beam grows out along that direction towards the edge of the area, and the pointer travels with its tip so you can see what it is over. Press Select to leave the pointer there.

The panel then comes back. A drag in progress stays held, so Radar can drop something a long way away.
